Numen needs you!
We are a semi-hardcore guild, which aims to maintain a small playerbase. This will ensure us to guarantee that no one has to sit out too much and we don't have to teach people a new encounter every week.
If you consider yourself an exceptional player, if you are eager to try and compete with the best guilds and you fit our requirements listed below, then you should definately apply with Numen.
Please read on...
Be thorough when explaining your motivation to join and why we should be interested in you.
We have currently cleared ICC-10/25 Full hardmodes, attained a Tribute to Insanity and a Tribute to Immortality.
We have attained all Ulduar-10; Naxx-10 and Naxx-25 achievements and all Ulduar-25 hardmode achievements.
We wish you the best of luck with your application.
Council
Before you apply to Numen
That means that if you do wish to apply, you are here to stay. Do not apply if you wish to get some shiny epics for the last month you are going to play. Save yours and our time and don't bother.
If you apply by the public forum, be ready to get replies. These can be both positive and negative. A public application is more vulnerable to slander and remarks, but brings other advantages, such as member vouches and so forth. If you have a reputation proceeding you and people do bring that up in your application topic, be ready for a negative impact on your application.
Supplying a WWS (http://www.wowwebstats.com) of your performance is highly recommended. We use WWS to evaluate the way you play. For DPS, what cycle you use. For healing, what healing spells you use. For everything, the amount of PBAoE damage you take and how good you are at avoiding deaths.
Take some time to write your application. You may think a short application will summarize everything good enough, but usually we don't even take the time to look at a short application. A well done application will be at least 5 paragraphs long. If you are not very good at English (but decent enough) run the application through a grammar check and/or spelling check. You may think it's not important, but we have to read your application.
An application starting with "Wazzup" or "Yo!" will most definitely just be disregarded. Take your time writing your application, it's the first impression we'll get from you and thus very crucial.
Requirements
You do not need a state of the art computer that can do every fight with 50+ FPS, but we expect that your computer can handle the very graphical encounters in Sunwell and other instances.
We use Ventrilo as voice communication during raids. It's a must for you to be on ventrilo during raids, as all of our raid leading is done on ventrilo. It is not required for you to speak, but it is a very big plus. If you cannot connect to ventrilo, we won't care and will just reject your application.
Our raiding schedule is Sunday to Thursday, with Friday and Saturday as possible additions during progress raids. They are most likely not raid days, but it has happened in the past that we pushed a raid out on those days to get a kill. We raid from 19:00 to 24:00 and rarely extend, but again during progress this might be the case and we'll push on another hour or more.
As we are an endgame guild, this means your gear has to be up to par with it. This means level 80 heroic gear or 10 man raid quality gear and above. We are not interested in gearing people up, stop asking us. You will need extensive raiding experience, with Sunwell experience being a very big plus. If you completed Naxxramas pre-expansion, do not be afraid to mention it. Naxxramas shaped players and thus completing it is, again, a very big plus. Some questions you may want to ask yourself; "Was I able to do Thaddius or Heigan without fucking up my movement?"; Was I able to do Four Horsemen without ever dying from a Void Zone (be it invisible or not)?"; "Was I able to do Sapphiron?"; "Was I able to not die on Kel'Thuzad?"
Or more recent, "Can you do Archimonde for 10 minutes straight without dying?"; "Can you get out of the bloody AoE on Illidari Council?"; "Can you survive Fatal Attraction?"; and so on. There's plenty of examples. If you said no to any of the above questions, turn around and back away, we won't be interested.
We expect you to know your class, inside out. We are not interested in people that have to be told how to improve or what exactly they did wrong. We are not interested in teaching you how to play. If you haven't learned by now, don't bother applying. We on the other hand, do not mind giving you some tips on niche-playing details, but it stops there.
We raid a lot. This means a lot of gold is spent on Consumables, repairs and bitter tears of wiping on new bosses. We aspire to not look up any tactics or anything alike on new bosses as we enjoy figuring out new encounters. Again, you'll need a LOT of gold to fund the consumables for one night of wiping on a new boss. F.ex, one night of Brutallus practice cost every melee member: ~50 Haste Potions, ~50 Scrolls of X, ~50 Drums of Battle, ~60 Elixir of Demonslaying. These are rough estimates, but rest assured you will need to make sure your bags are filled to the brim with consumables.
Furthermore, a must when applying is having a thick skin. Our raid leader(s)/council will make sure you are aware of when you fuck up. We may or may not shout at you. If we do, you'll need to be able to suck it up. We rarely raise our voice if we are not right. But it may happen that we did not get the full picture and you get shouted at anyway. We do not appreciate people that will go into discussing midattempt. If you feel that you have something to say about our comment(s), do it after combat. We are human and thus will make mistakes ourselves, but do not spam ventrilo or raid chat trying to dispute the comment, this will only lessen the focus on the current fight. If you feel that this would be too hard for you, we are not the guild you are looking for.
Whilst it's not a must, you being up to date on theory crafting around your class is a big plus. If you are even interested in more than just your class, even better. If you have http://www.elitistjerks.com as your homepage and you are a theory crafting junkie, do let us know. It is very appreciated that people take time and interest themselves into reading up, thus making them better raiders.
And last but not least, Numen is a guild aimed at mature players. This means 18 years and above. Whilst it's not the norm, but it may happen that guild chat is spammed with some obscenities. Let this be a forewarning to our sometimes, very twisted humor.
Application
The second possibility is applying by using our application form, which can be found here . This will ensure that only the people that need to see the application, see the application. It's part of our internal forums and thus will be treated as such.
Make sure you have read all of the above before applying, and good luck!.
